Jessica "Doc" Burgans
Jessica "Doc Jess" Burgans is a U.S. Army combat medic veteran and a Licensed
Mental Health Counselor. She deployed to Iraq for two years, serving on the front lines alongside infantry as a trained and documented Lioness. The name "Doc Jess" is the one her unit gave her. She came home carrying what she'd seen, and
spent close to a decade searching for something that would touch it.
What eventually worked was a combination of mind-body-spirit approaches — and a series of doors she describes as opening in ways that made no human sense. She went back to school, earned her bachelor's and then her master's, and became licensed to do for others what took her ten years to find for herself.
She has facilitated individual, group, marriage, and family counseling, along with
parenting and marriage classes. She brings the clinical grounding to the show — the part where lived experience gets checked against what the evidence actually says
